So, it's definitely been a while. I have to say that between the end of June and the entire month of July, this has been the longest summer on record. Paul spent a night at AI DuPont Hospital for children with a bad virus that ended up as bacterial pneumonia. And it took a couple of rounds of antibiotic to really kick it. We have an appointment with a pediatric pulmonary specialist on August 1st. People can say what they like, but there is nothing normal about a 3 year old having pneumonia in two different lungs in three months. So we are keeping our fingers crossed that this Dr. will at least give us something to go on. So, on top of the pneumonia, Paul and Daddy decided to make pancakes one Sunday morning when everyone was just starting to feel better. Well, it turns out that 3 year olds and hot griddles turn out to not be the best mix. Poor little guy leaned forward to save himself from falling off his chair and put his hand right on the griddle. So, he's had a bandaged hand and three trips to a plastic surgeon. We are thankful though. The hand has healed beautifully and there will be no permanent scars.
Eli is chugging along. He is starting to teethe and isn't sleeping as well as he normally does. He is starting to get up on all fours and it looks like he will crawl any day. His nose is not running right now, but really it did for most of June and July. He really is a very sweet and patient little boy. He has no demands other than to be fed and held.
So, I've taken on the one day at a time mantra. I've learned not to make extensive plans too far in advance. I've found that a good day is one in which everyone gets out the door dressed. A great day is one in which everyone gets out the door dressed with smiles on their faces.
